A trip to Israel is a Bat Mitzvah to remember! Make sure it’s an experience your daughter will hold close to her heart forever.
When looking for things to do in northern Israel, Katzrin Village becomes a natural choice, and we are honoured to create opportunities for special and long-lasting Jewish memories.
Among many other things, Katzrin is the birthplace of synagogue prayer during the Byzantine era, following the fall of the Second Temple in 70 CE. The village was built in the 4th century CE. This was a time of light for the Jewish people, despite the absence of the Temple. Yeshivot and rabbinical schools were established; the Sanhedrin sat in the lakeside city of Tiberias, while the Jerusalem Talmud was being written.
Katzrin Village is the only reconstructed ancient dwelling place in Israel that truly reflects the writings of the Talmud in its architecture and building style. Explore a fully rebuilt ancient Israeli home, and an ancient synagogue, which became the symbol of community, as much as a symbol of prayer.
Katzrin Village offers the opportunity to bring meaning and life to history. Take part in seasonal activities such as traditional winemaking, ancient olive oil production, or age-old methods of wheat harvesting, winnowing, and grinding for flour. Opt for the addition of a musician to surround you with song while you work to the gentle beat of a drum or the rhythm of the guitar, as you pound grapes beneath your feet.
We believe that hands-on learning is the best road to understanding.
Dress in a traditional robe to look and feel the part and learn about the work and lifestyle of Jewish women and girls in ancient times.
See how the women of the day made colour cosmetics like eyeliner, eye shadow, and lipsticks. Afterwards you can test out wonderful, toxin-free creams, scented with aromatic plants for a soft, moist skin.
The same colour concept for makeup was applied in preparing paints, but the materials used were different. Learn how to make your own paints out of simple ingredients that can be found in anyone’s kitchen! You will use them to paint your own vessel, a memento to remind you of your experience here.
As you can see, there is so much to do and to learn here at Katzrin Village.
We encourage you to contact us so that we can assist you in planning your event to suit your specific needs, including the venue, music, the activities, and even a master of ceremonies if you like.
