From mid to late summer, the Golan Heights vineyards are bursting with sweet, juicy clusters of grapes.
Once picked, the grapes are placed on the tiled floor of the basin-like wine press – but first pop a grape or two into your mouth. Nothing compares to the taste of freshly picked, ripe fruit!
With cleaned, bare feet, the grape-stomping begins, with the juice gradually trickling down through various chambers and into the bucket.
This enjoyable winemaking activity includes an explanation of the fermentation process, where we learn about sugar and yeast.
In addition, every participant receives a beginner’s wine-making kit, and a small, corked bottle for the grape juice. Drink your grape juice straight away or let it ferment into wine.
This is a fun group experience which requires team effort. It is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to step out of their comfort zone and bond.
Enhance the experience by requesting a musician to be present. With a variety of acoustic instruments to choose from, the beat of the drum or the melodic sound of the flute adds an extra measure of enrichment.
