When the sun has set and a soft breeze fills the air, velvety darkness spreads over the Land and the mystery of the night comes alive.
The Lantern Tour begins with a lantern in hand, as you are led through Katzrin Village and back in time. Scenes along the path include the ancient olive press, where a musician awaits to enhance your evening with soft, acoustic music. Pass by plots of wheat, ready for harvest in the summer, on to the ancient synagogue, and finally the ancient Israeli home revealed by candlelight. Wrap up the evening with stories, soft music, warm herbal tea, and cookies.
Upon arrival, each participant receives a lit lantern. You are then led by an experienced guide in traditional clothing, who will carry you back in time to hear the voices of Talmudic sages.
Walk an easy, paved path to the ancient olive press where your evening will be enhanced by songs and stories of hope and courage.
Continue to the ancient synagogue, passing plots of wheat on the way, to be harvested at the annual wheat harvest. With its impressive stone entryway and columns, the synagogue is a reminder of the resilience of the Jewish people throughout the ages.
Adjacent to the synagogue is a lovely, cosy ancient Israeli home, where we will spend part of the evening bathed in candlelight. Notice the oil lamps set on the ledges, observe the little kitchen, storage areas, and sleeping quarters. Listen to extraordinary Talmudic fables relayed by your guide as you sip some warm herbal tea accompanied by cookies.
– The Lantern Tour is suitable for all age groups, including young children and pensioners, and is accessible to strollers.
– The tour can be extended for youth and teens to include a fantastic experience navigating a forest path (fully marked and led by a guide) adjacent to the village.
– Please note that since the Lantern Tour is a group activity, booking must take place at least one week in advance.
Feel free to extend your stay as we prepare a bonfire and lay out large mats for your group. Wind down, relax, and gaze at a star-studded sky for the perfect completion of your evening.
To book a kosher dairy or meat meal, please check our options for group meals.
