Katzrin Village dates back to 4 CE. It was a bustling town of the Talmudic era and is now a living history site. Come face-to-face with Jewish history at Katzrin VIllage. Discover and hear the story of the Katzrin Village Synagogue, with its ancient mosaic flooring, impressive entryway, and beautiful carved embellishments. You can pray within its walls, letting your prayers ascend and mingle with the echoes of the prayers of our people from centuries past.

In addition, we offer a range of various educational and engaging activities, which provide hands-on learning to experience the life and customs of the village inhabitants.

Seasonal Activities for Your Synagogue Trip to Israel

Springtime – Enjoy and appreciate ancient culture surrounding the annual wheat harvest by participating in an authentic wheat harvest. Cut, gather, and winnow the sheaves until golden kernels are revealed. Then enjoy a warm, tasty treat of whole wheat kernels cooked in a skillet and drizzled with honey for an original granola treat.

Late Summer – Early Autumn – Following the grape harvest, is winemaking time. Learn all about the fermentation process as you join us in crushing grapes at the old grape press, and receive a bottle of grape juice at the end. Moreover, an informative workshop at the nearby Golani Winery and Distillery would be the perfect complement to our winemaking activity.

Autumn – Early Winter – The olive oil industry was a primary industry in Talmudic times. Participate in the olive oil experience using the oldest functioning olive press in Israel! The process is fascinating and afterwards you’ll receive a small bottle of authentic olive oil.

Once you have your olive oil, you can proceed to bake you own pita. Roll out the dough and place over an open fire. Afterwards break off some fresh, warm bread and savor it dipped in olive oil and fragrant hyssop seasoning.
