Baptism in the Jordan River; Tiberias and sailing on the Sea of Galilee; biblical encounters at Capernaum, Magdala, Yardenit and Bethsaida; meeting history at Korazim, Cana, Tabgha, and Kursi; ancient ruins, thriving cities, and living history instil pure wonder when faced with a one-on-one experience of the past.
To really experience the past is to experience it. That is why Katzrin Village is a living history site. Instead of imagining the past, live it! Open a window and see Israel in Jesus’ time. See how society lived in the time of Jesus. How did people work and dress? What were their daily routines? Get a taste of ancient family life and mouthwatering food. Soak in the same breathtaking views the people saw around them, as Jesus performed miracles and imparted God’s teachings.
We believe that listening is forgetting, seeing is remembering, and doing is understanding! Therefore, we encourage active participation in activities and tasks of yesteryear.
Katzrin Village takes you beyond your imagination: Explore a first-century home. Think of Jesus giving a sermon to a full house with a crowded courtyard at the ancient Israeli home!
When looking up at the mud roof with its wooden beams, it is easy to understand how a crippled man could be lowered through to hear God’s Word.
Katzrin Village offers a wide range of educational, engaging activities, leading to a greater understanding of the customs and traditions of the time, and giving us better insight into the surroundings where Jesus lived and taught.
– Dress up in traditional clothing for the duration of your stay to blend in with the times.
– Learn about color production using natural materials, and make your own paints to decorate a small vase or jar to take back home. Let it be a reminder of the miracle of oil that never ran out.
– Experience building with cob, an ancient building material, vital in building homes, and which is still used as an alternative building method today. Make your own keepsake such as a bowl, an oil lamp, or a decorative ornament of your choice.
– Take part in one of the three major harvests, depending on the time of year. Harvest wheat the traditional way in the spring, make wine at the old-fashioned wine press in late summer, or in the fall, press olives into fine oil at the traditional olive press, the oldest functioning oil press in Israel. What better way of grasping an understanding of biblical life by participating in the process yourself!
– Grind flour on traditional millstones and you will understand why the woman of household gets up while it isa still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls…She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks (Proverbs 31:15-17).
Make fresh dough, roll it out, and bake delicious pita bread over an open fire. Five loaves for 5,000 people!
Afterwards, savor the bread dipped in authentic golden olive oil and hyssop seasoning.
– Explore Katzrin Village after nightfall on the Lantern Tour. Enjoy a peaceful evening filled with acoustical music, stories, and wonder, as the nighttime atmosphere calms the senses. Walk through the sleepy village and visit the ancient Israeli home where you will recount biblical tales. Finish off with warm herbal tea and village cookies.
Feel free to contact us and we will help you arrange the perfect stay for a meaningful day.
The Galilee experience is ideal for a Church Tour. Combine fun with a memorable experience to help better understand faith and the Bible.
So, gather your friends, family, and pastor for something unforgettable that will be cherished and remembered for years to come!
